Another MP who didn't break the rules!

Editor,

We are told that Geoff Hoon didn't break the rules when he lived in two houses at the tax-payers' expense while renting out his own flat.

Why am I not surprised? They make the rules. They interpret the rules and he is a lawyer for goodness sake!

What I ask from an MP is that they are reasonable. I do think that we are entitled to question the judgement of MPs who think that it is reasonable to be provided with two free houses while renting out another for profit, or, who like last week's example, seem to feel that it is reasonable to have two houses just 11 miles apart.
