Gains Park Residents Campaign for New Defibrillator
Currently, the nearest defibrillator is at Shelton Cricket Club, some distance from the main body of the estate. The campaign so far has raised £825 of the £2,000 goal, with nearly 50 residents chipping in to the fund. Also planned is a table-top sale at Gains Park Hall on the 14 th of May at 10am, to help raise money.
Councillor Alex Wagner represents the Gains Park area on the Town and County Council. He is in the process of securing an additional £500 in funding for the project from Shrewsbury Town Council.
Alex said: “I would really encourage residents to donate to this great local campaign. Although Royal Shrewsbury Hospital is on the doorstep in Gains Park, we all know that getting an ambulance or a bed is often tricky, with waiting times unacceptably high across Shropshire. A defibrillator could save lives and we are really hopeful that we can raise the £2,000 needed to get one right at the heart of Gains Park, at the Community Hall. Please give generously!"
Local resident Christine Cross is organising the campaign. Christine said: “We are very thankful to the nearly 50 residents who have donated so far, but we are still some way off our target. The whole community would be enormously appreciative of any penny people can give, as many hands make light work! Please do give what you can – it could save lives and will be worth it’s weight in gold if we reach our £2,00 target.”
