Mary Davies
Shropshire Council & Shrewsbury Town Councillor for Abbey
Mary Davies is the Shrewsbury Town and Shropshire Councillor for Abbey, covering all the way from the old Gay Meadow to Shirehall and Cherry Orchard.
Mary was born in Welshpool and is the eldest daughter of a farming family from Mid Wales. She became interested in politics after the EU referendum results and joined the Liberal Democrats in 2017, campaigning in the town with Open Britain and other local progressive groups.
Having got a taste for local campaigning, Mary made the decision to run for council as a Liberal Democrat. She took over from Hannah Fraser when Hannah decided to step down after nine years of representing the area in 2021, going on to hold the Abbey Shropshire Council seat with a majority of 154 over the Conservatives. She also retained the Town Council seat.
In her spare time Mary enjoys hill walking locally and further afield, enjoys gardening, and researching the history of the British monarchy.
Mary is a property lawyer by profession and has worked within local firms, but has now made the switch to a career in local politics.
