Liz Lynne and the Liberal Democrats are celebrating her re-election to the European Parliament for a third term as our local MEP.
This is a good moment to be a Liberal Democrat. Constitutional reform grips Westminster. The bigger parties are being discredited by expenses - the double departure yesterday of Labour's Margaret Moran and the Tories' Julie Kirkbride symbolising shared disgrace. Lib Dems have been tainted, too, but not on the same scale, and the party can claim to have championed reform when it was unfashionable. Nick Clegg's proposal yesterday for a 100-day revolution was eye-catching, but most of the ideas in it have been backed by his party for years. The difference is that other parties are now competing to match them.
With the right investment, we have the opportunity to turn things around and ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has the chance to succeed.
Liberal Democrats want to fix our broken relationship with Europe. Giving young people the opportunity to live, study and work in Europe is a vital first step.
The Liberal Democrats are committed to transforming maternal and neonatal care and ensuring inclusive care for all, so we can create a safer, more compassionate healthcare system for everyone.
Our market system should balance businesses’ needs and the rights and freedoms of workers.
The last ten days have been immensely difficult for our country.
After years of neglect, the top priority of the incoming Labour government should now be to save our health and care services.
