Change is only worthwhile if it brings benefits to the residents of Shropshire.  The prime concerns are good services, value for money and being responsive to the Public.  Administrative changes are in themselves insignificant.

Bill Jones Retires

When Bill Jones, South Shropshire Director of Operations, first came to work in South Shropshire over twenty years ago, there were already plans to bid for a new Sports and Leisure Facility in Church Stretton. As he retires today he can look with real pleasure as work progresses to make this ambition a reality.

The Government are failing to meet their own targets to eradicate Fuel Poverty. Last week the Liberal Democrats took up the cause in a Private Members bill. Labour blocked its progress.

50% drop in prosecutions for selling alcohol to children

Only 5 retailers in the West Mercia Police area were prosecuted for selling alcohol to children. The number of people being prosecuted for selling alcohol to children has dropped by 50% over the last year, while the numbers given a penalty notice have risen hugely, according to figures revealed by the Liberal Democrats.
